What is Hypertension or High Blood Pressure?

Hypertension is a medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated.

 

Causes:

  • Lack of Physical Activities
  • Smoking
  • Excess Salt intake in diet
  • Older Age
  • Genetics
  • Excess Alcohol Consumption
  • Rise in Cholesterol Level
  • Stress, Anxiety and/or Depression

 

Symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • Vision problems
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Nosebleeds
  • Fatigue

 

Home Remedies:

  • Quit Smoking
  • Increasing Physical Activities
  • People with High Blood Pressure should consume radish daily
  • Increase amount of Bitter Gourd in diet
  • Consume 4 cloves of Garlic. This will help prevent rise in blood pressure.
  • Drinking 9-10 glasses of water per day help level down the blood pressure.
  • Every morning, walk bare foot in the Barmuda Grass (Dubo) field.
  • Use sunflower oil in daily diet. Avoid using Vanaspati Ghee (Hydrogenated Hardened Vegetable Oil/Ghee).
  • Turmeric, Cumin, Coriander and Fenugreek are rich in potassium. So, including these items in daily diet helps reduce High Blood Pressure.
  • Consume Custard Apple (Sharifa) every day when available.
  • Consuming below mentioned fruit helps reduce Blood Pressure
    • 2 Bananas a day or
    • A pomegranate a day or
    • 200 grams of grapes a day
  • Use Stone Salt (Sidhenun) instead of Sea Salt. Sea salt is Sodium Chloride which increase the Blood Pressure.
