The eyes are one of the five sense organs in the human body. They play a vital role in normal living. Any problems related to the eyes hinder your quality of life.

 

Causes: Problems related to eyes.

Personal hygiene and nutrition are the main culprits when it comes to eye-related problems. Some of the most common reasons that cause your eyes to malfunction can be as follows

  • Lacking a balanced diet
  • Smoking
  • Sitting in front of the screen for long
  • Hereditary
  • Lack of sanitation
  • Sunburn
  • Lack of physical exercise
  • Age: old age leads to various eye diseases and vision loss
  • Sleep disorders
  • Stress, anxiety, and/or depression

 

Symptoms that indicate a problem in the eyes:

  • Vision loss
  • Dry eyes
  • Pain in the eyes or around the eyes
  • Burning in eyes
  • Headaches are also related to an eye problem
  • Seeing flashes of lights
  • Blurred, hazy, and/or double vision
  • Thin, loose, and/or watery stool
  • Swollen and/or red eyes, etc.

 

Home Remedies for keeping your eyes healthy:

  • Consume enough vitamin A: Vitamin A deficiency is one of the major causes of blindness in the world. So, consuming enough food with vitamin A is very helpful for keeping your eyes healthy. Some of the food rich in vitamin A are dairy products, egg yolks, liver, orange, yellow vegetables, fruits, etc.
  • Keep your eyes clean.
  • Make radish a part of your daily diet.
  • Wash your eyes with fresh water every morning. Repeat this after every meal.
  • Wash your eyes with cow’s urine (gaut) every morning.
  • Take 10-15 flowers of blue mimosa and boil in water. Let the water cool. Filter with a clean cotton cloth. Wash eyes with such water every morning.
  • Dip a clean cotton cloth in goat’s milk. Firmly apply the cloth over your eyes for a few minutes.
  • Consume oily fish. It contains omega-3 which helps prevent different eye diseases including dry eyes.
  • Consume food with vitamin C. Sources of vitamin C are fruits and vegetables like broccoli, citrus fruits, guavas, bell peppers, etc.
  • Have enough food with zinc. Sources of zinc are meat, peanuts, oysters, pumpkin seeds, etc.
