What is Cough?
Cough is your body’s natural response to clear the throat and breathing passage. It involves a voluntary or involuntary act that causes rapid expulsion of air from the lungs.
Causes:
Some common causes include flu, allergies, common cold, viral infection, pneumonia, postnasal drip, GRED, Asthma, mediational side effects, COPD, etc...
Types of Cough:
There are two types of Cough namely Dry Cough and Productive (Wet or Chesty) Cough.
Dry Cough:
Cough with no mucus extraction is known as dry cough.
Home Remedies:
- Sucking on cloves
- Long pepper and salt powder
- Take powder of long pepper and salt separately.
- Mix 1 part long pepper and 2 parts of salt.
- Consume every morning and evening, half teaspoon of the mixture with hot water
- Consume a mixture of 1 teaspoon of honey and long pepper powder every morning and evening
- Sesame water and rock candy(sugar candy or rock sugar)
- Boil 250 grams of Sesame with 1 liter of water. Keep the mixture boiling until 1/4th of the mixture remains.
- Mix rock candy in the mixture according to taste
- Consume 2-4 teaspoon at once, three to four times per day
- Lick the mixture of half a teaspoon of holy basil, ginger, and onion each.
- Mustard oil, cow’s milk, and salt
- Mix mustard oil or cow’s milk with salt
- Warm the mixture
- Massage your chest with the warm mixture 2-3 times a day
- Holy Basil Leaves, Cardamom, Black Pepper, and Honey
- Mix Holy Basil leaves, cardamom, black pepper in equal proportion.
- Add the mixture to hot boiled water and honey
- Drink as tea
- Suck the mixture of cardamom and black pepper in equal proportion
- Consume half teaspoon of Cardamom powder with warm water for a few days.
Productive Cough (Wet or Chesty):
Cough that produces mucus or phlegm or sputum is termed as Productive Cough
Home Remedies:
- Betel Leaf and Honey
- Make Betel Leaf Syrup
- Mix the syrup with honey in the proportion of 1 gram to 3 grams
- Suck the mixture 3 times a day for few days
- Burn the Banana bark and make ashes. Consume the ash with honey every morning and evening
- Consume a mixture of 1 teaspoon of ginger syrup and 1 teaspoon of honey. Drink warm water.
- Drink Pear juice every morning and evening
- Drink Spinach Soup
- Consume Bitter Grout for vegetable
- Boil Turnip in Water. Consume such water.
- Mix Holy Basil Leaves, Camphor, and Honey. Consume the mixture.
- Onion, Honey, and Lemon
- Cut the onion into small slices
- Soak the slices into honey
- Wring the onion and add lemon in the syrup thus obtained
- Consume 1 teaspoon of mixture 4-5 time per day
- Dry Guava seeds in the sun. Make powder. Mix in honey and consume
